The Dare Greater Boston office holds a number of events throughout the year to support our foster parents. Professional trainings are held each month for all foster parents, usually on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Dare’s clinical director, Dr. Steve Willis, as well as outside experts, provide these trainings to our providers. We hold weekly support groups for our foster parents and staff to come together to share advice and offer suggestions.
Our holiday party each December is a huge success. Our foster parents and children come together to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon, sharing food, games and sense of community.
We hold a foster parent appreciation event every May during National Foster Care Month. It is a time for our staff to honor and show our gratitude and appreciation for the amazing work that our foster parents provide each day to help a child or adult realize his or her full potential.
We offer orientation and training (MAPP) for prospective foster parents several times a year. This comprehensive training gives information and tools to prepare prospective foster parents for a child to be placed in their home.
